Tarım Kredi Birlik A.Ş., one of the affiliates of Turkish Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri, plays a leading role in bringing Adıyaman almonds to the shelves with the facility it established in Kahta.
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Nurettin Kıyas said, "Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri broke new ground in Turkey and established an almond crushing, processing and packaging facility in our Kahta district."
Almonds and peanuts processed in the facility opened 4 years ago by Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri in Adıyaman, one of the important almond production centers of Turkey, are delivered to all over the country.
45 workers work in the almond and peanut processing facility, which started operating in 2018 in the Organized Industrial Zone in Kahta district, with an area of 16 thousand square meters, of which 5 thousand 400 square meters is closed.
The products, which are carefully packaged in the facility where 10-15 tons of almonds and 5-6 tons of pistachios are crushed daily, take their place in the Tarım Kredi Kooperatif markets. Almonds and peanuts are also sent to other markets if the product is in excess and requested.
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Nurettin Kıyas told the AA correspondent that Adıyaman ranks first in almond production with the studies carried out in recent years.
Noting that almond production in the city reached 100 thousand decares in 5 years from 20 thousand decares, Kıyas said:
Almonds are important in the cultivation, storage, packaging and marketing of agricultural products. As almond cultivation began to increase in our city, the need for processing and marketing began to arise. Breaking new ground, Turkish Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri established an almond crushing, processing and packaging facility in our Kahta district. Thanks to this facility, our almond producers do not experience difficulties such as crushing, processing and marketing their products.
Facility manager Ömer Faruk Özbek stated that they have all integrated systems from crushing to packaging of almonds and pistachios.
Emphasizing that the number of markets belonging to Agricultural Credit Cooperatives is increasing day by day and the almonds and peanuts produced in the facility are delivered to markets all over the country, Özbek said, "Our production continues without slowing down." We crush 10-15 tons of almonds and 5-6 tons of pistachios per day.
